How being grateful can change your mindset

“When I started to count my blessings, my whole life turned around”- Willie Nelson.

Being grateful is easier said than done. It takes a strong mind to be grateful. When you are grateful for something or someone it shifts the negative perspective that you might have on them. A gratitude journal could boost your mental and physical health, and help you with emotional stability. When everything seems to be going terribly, ending off the day with gratitude gives the day purpose.

I keep a gratitude journal, and I put down 3 things I am grateful for that day. If I am upset at someone, but I know deep down that I am thankful for them being in my life I write them down. It helps me take a moment to reflect on why I am upset at them and start the next day with a fresh start and a better perspective on them. It also gives empathy towards them and helps you remember that they are human too. Something I have noticed as well is that it reduces my stress levels and overall makes me a happier person.

When you are grateful, everything in your life starts to become more meaningful, and you appreciate the world and everything around you as it is.

“Gratitude and attitude are not challenges; they are choices” Robert J Braathe.

As corny as it sounds, I'm grateful you and the Parker Press writers keep going so we can be tuned into what's happening in the school from the students' perspectives! Mahalo!
