Why Coffee is the Best Drink Ever

Coffee is one of my favorite drinks and is so great for you. Every morning I love to drink a cup of hot coffee with a little bit of creamer. You can buy creamer that’s flavored like caramel, hazelnut, vanilla, and many others. You can even find seasonal flavors sometimes too. Creamer adds some extra flavor but I think coffee with just a splash of it is the best. Some people also love their coffee with just plain milk or nothing at all added which is okay, but really bitter. 


I think coffee is one of the best drinks because you can have it when you're cold and it will always warm you up. Or, you can drink iced coffee on a hot day and it’s so refreshing. But, my favorite thing about coffee is getting to use fun and cute mugs that can really brighten someone's day. 


There’s also so many ways you can prepare coffee. Many people like lattes, mochas, macchiatos, etc. I think these types of coffee drinks are best hot but you can get them iced too. Some coffees are only made cold though like cold brew or blended coffee drinks. Furthermore, coffee tastes great in desserts. In Italy, it’s very popular to get a shot of espresso over ice cream, this is called an affogato. Other desserts with coffee like coffee jelly and tiramisu are great too if you want less of a coffee taste than an affogato.


Not only does coffee taste great but it also is clinically proven to alleviate depression. Since coffee has caffeine it can give you a boost of dopamine and add a little extra happiness to your day. According to a 2010 study from the UK Biobank, drinking 1-4 cups of coffee a day is the right amount to reduce depression and anxiety. I’d say that 4 cups of coffee is a little excessive, but just a couple cups can do the job too. 


Coffee is also a healthier alternative to energy drinks. Energy drinks contain lots of ingredients that aren't good for you like excessive amounts of taurine, B vitamins, and sugar which are all in higher quantities than we should be consuming. There’s also much less caffeine in coffee so it’s way safer to drink than energy drinks. A cup of coffee is generally 90 mg of caffeine while a canned energy drink is around 200 mg of caffeine; That’s more than twice the amount!


Overall coffee is delicious and maybe a little bit addicting. If you’re looking for a drink to get hooked on, I totally recommend trying out coffee and if you don’t really like it you might enjoy it when it’s prepared in a different way!
