Every school has them, and every state has them too. We all hate them, but they have to happen sometimes. It's finals month, the month at the end of the year before the New Year, and the month where the most stress we must endure until the next big event is here. Time right now feels so long until you look back on it and realize all the other things you didn't do and how fast time really was at that moment. This time in the semester is the bridge between all the things you've worked for and the fresh new start you're going to have in the next five months. Every single late-night study you put all your energy into, all the flashcards you made, and especially all the stress you had to endure during this time is going to fade in a sort of way like all the memories that come along during time are going to blend into one nostalgic feeling. It may feel like the hardest, most overwhelming part of your life right now, but one day, when you look back, it’ll be a bittersweet memory. Those days in high school—the late nights, the pressure, and even the stress—will be moments that shaped you. They’re part of the journey that builds your strength, resilience, and character. While it’s tough now, these experiences are helping you become the person you’re meant to be. Remember, growth often comes from the challenges we face, and someday, you’ll look back with pride at how far you’ve come.
High school right now may probably and most likely suck a little bit. But look at everything you've accomplished while being here. All the funny memories you had, all the friends you made, and every time you started dying laughing in class when it was dead silent and when you had to get separated from your friend because you were “disrupting the class.” When you look at the small, sweet moments you had in the years you've been in school, it might not seem as bad. I'm not saying that high school is a breeze in any way, socially or academically. Balancing friendships and relationships and navigating who you are can be trying in every way, not to mention juggling homework, exams, and extracurriculars. But just know that these are all your life experiences and that these days you have in high school will be a blur of bittersweet nostalgia that you could be brought back to. Maybe it's a smell, a song, or even a person who was your whole world in those moments. Either way, you will always have some sweet moments in these times of stress, confusion, and, most likely, back pain. But they go by faster than you would think, so enjoy what you can when you can during these bittersweet endings.
