The spring boys' volleyball 2025 season started strong and is ending with a bang! This year’s boys’ volleyball team was an exciting one for Parker Athletics and is making history as we know it. The growth of this team has been unbelievable throughout the past 2 years. Let's take a look and unfold the ongoing story of this volleyball team.

In a match that had everyone on the edge of their seats, the Parker boys battled until the very end in the Division II BIIF Championships against neighboring school Hawai’i Preparatory Academy (HPA) last Wednesday night. Though the boys ultimately fell short in the long 2 ½ hour, five-set match—20-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-15, 14-16–the loss does not overshadow the message this team has instilled throughout their long, incredible season. This year is a historical one for our school as they head off to the HHSAA State Tournament for what we believe to be the first time in school history. Throughout the BIIF tournament, this team had many triumphs. Parker beat Christian Liberty Academy (CLA) in a clean three-set win, then pushed past Ka’u in a four-set victory, leading them to the state tournament with teamwork, determination, and amazing execution.

This team leads with a lot of heart, but at the top of the list are our seniors Noah Nikolai, Beaudin Schad, and Mikali Caverly–players who have helped carry this team to new heights. Nikolai and Schad, as our dominating middles, led our team in scoring throughout the season. Their powerful hits and impenetrable blocks have become the backbone of Parker's offense and defense.

The championships were no different. Beaudin had a resounding 24 kills throughout the 5 sets, along with 10 powerful blocks–18 for the whole team–and Noah had 18 kills, keeping this team on their high. The team plays together, and each and every one of them has an important role on the court. The starting freshman, Kenji Wetherell, shows composure during the match, going on multiple service runs and keeping calm energy in high-pressure situations. Holding down the back row was the libero Kauanoe Hansen, who had 12 incredible digs against HPA’s hitters throughout the night, which kept rallies alive with hustle. Team Captain Takumi, as the setter and heart of the team, carried phenomenal sets all night. His consistency, leadership, and court vision hold the team together to create opportunities.

Although the Dll BIIF Champions title was stolen by HPA, the season is far from over.

As they advance to the state tournament, Parker will face off against the number one seed on O‘ahu, an intimidating opponent, but one that the Bulls are ready for. With the unmatched leadership of Coach Sharon, a former Olympic athlete whose passion, precision, and belief in her players have transformed Parker athletics, this team has already made history and isn’t done doing so yet.

With Coach Sharon guiding them, the boys have completely turned this team around since 2 years ago, from loose players to a cohesive and confident team. Two years ago, they finished their season with a 4-7 record before a 7-5 record the following year, and now a 9-6 record to end their official season. Coach Sharon’s expertise has pushed and assisted every player who has stepped onto her court with an open mind and respect for her. She helps people reach their personal, physical, and mental bests and has genuinely established a winning mentality in the entire program. Parker hasn’t been simply playing the game, but rewriting what has been possible for our small school athletics.

Good Luck to the Parker Bulls at states!
