Why Meditation is a Good Habit

If you think that meditation is dumb, don’t worry I thought so too. But for my New year resolutions I wanted to start. And here is what I learned about meditation.

When I meditate I often sit on my room floor. In criss-cross, with my back straight. It’s important to keep your posture good because when you have good posture you can take deeper breaths, and control it better. Now, it doesn't have to be too long but I say strive for 3-10 minutes when you meditate.

If you meditate in the morning, I would stretch, or make your bed and open your curtains so you can get your body moving. Because if you try to meditate right out of bed you would be too tired to do it correctly. When meditating in the morning, you can set intentions for your day because less things are on your mind, and for me I really enjoy it because in the morning it's the time of day that I have control over, and or don’t need control.

If you meditate at night, you will have a lot on your mind. But I think that is my favorite thing about night meditation, you can let go of your day. What I do is I think about a few things that have stressed me out that day and think about solutions for them, and different ways to view the situation, and that really helps.

“Meditation means letting go of our baggage, letting go of all the pre-rehearsed stories and inner-dialogue that we’ve grown so attached to- Andy Puddicombe
