Spring Sports Preview

With the winter sports season over, spring sports are starting up. This year, Parker School is going to have boys volleyball, tennis, golf, and field. Schedules are being sent out, so mark your calendars! This season is sure to have plenty of exciting moments, so be sure to show up with all your best school spirit!


Boys volleyball has practices every day from 3:30pm-5:00pm at the district park. Their first game will be February 21st, at Konawaena. Their first home game will be February 25th at 10:00am against Laupahoehoe. “I am looking forward to this season and the future with this team,” says Noah Nikolai, a sophomore. The team will be having home games basically every Saturday at 10:00am, so show up and support your Parker Bulls!


Golf is also starting up with practices every day from 3:30pm-5:30pm at Mauna Kea and Hapuna golf courses. “Although our team has four players, it’s so fun. Please join, I’m begging you,” says Makena Castro, a first year golfer. “I'm very excited to start the season with lots of wonderful people” says Ethan Schmitt, a freshmen The team's first tournament will be in March.


Tennis has practices Monday, Tuesday, and Friday at Mauna Kea from 3:30pm-5:30pm. Matches will be on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Their first match is an away match the Saturday before spring break on March 4th against Waiakea. “I’m excited for the new season with our new coaches and great new teammates!” says Jennifer Koranda, a sophomore and second year tennis player. “A sixth grader can play better than me, but the ocean view is very nice” says Sophie Canine, a sophomore.


Field is starting next week with practices Monday and Wednesday. They will be competing in Shotput and Discus. Their first meet is currently scheduled for Saturday, March 4th. “I'm really excited for this opportunity, and I'm also really excited to get super buff from throwing heavy things around. We’re going to get super ripped, like bodybuilders. Watch your back, HPA” says Ava Harris, a freshman.


Overall, this season is shaping up to be a great one. Head out and support your classmates as they begin competing in the coming months!
