Mark your calendars! The Parker School Winter Showcase is happening Thursday, December 11, at 6:00 PM, and it’s shaping up to be such a fun night! Students from choir, theatre, and dance have been working on these performances for months, and they’re finally ready to share them. If you’re looking for a great reason to come out and support your friends, this is it!

We’ll kick off the night with Choir Class, a group of students who meet on E days and have been rehearsing since the start of the school year. They’ll perform a mix of songs, including Shalom Chaverim, the class’s language piece sung in Hebrew, and Dawn and Twilight, an original song written by choir director Candie Duggan, inspired by the sunset over the Brooklyn Bridge during the Theatre Trip to New York City this past summer. Soloists for this piece include Addison Cooke, Adalyn Ballard, and Boston Schlack.

Choir Class will also perform Sweet Caroline, which means this is your cue to sing along! Soloists for this song are Ezra Seivert, Carter Thomas, Anastasia Seivert, and Josiah Delgado, and remember, you are absolutely encouraged to join in from the audience!

Throughout the showcase, you’ll also see a variety of solo and duet performances. These include Georgia Kasameyer performing “My Heart of Stone” from SIX (if you love this performance, be sure to come to the Richard Awards next semester to see a medley from SIX by six of our talented upperclassmen!), Shakespeare monologues by students in Acting Class, and a solo by Boston Schlack of “It’s Been a Long, Long Time” by Harry James.

There will also be duets, including “My Green Light” from The Great Gatsby performed by Adalyn Ballard and Josiah Delgado, as well as “Think of Me” from Phantom of the Opera performed by Ava Aragon and Ezra Seivert.

Next up is Honor Choir, our club choir made up of students who rehearse outside of class, as well as those in the class. This club meets every Friday to practice the last 3 songs you will hear at the Showcase! This year, we have the biggest honor choir yet, and it even includes some teachers who sing! (Be sure to come out and see who they are!) First, the group will perform “Carol of the Bells” (featuring a descant by Ava Aragon), followed by “Once Upon a December” from Anastasia, and “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home).” That final song features soloists Ava Daoust and Ava Aragon and is a great way to wrap up the choir portion of the night!

After an intermission, we move right into dance and ballet, a huge highlight of the showcase. These performances were carefully curated by the wonderful middle and upper school dancers at Pakrer School. They each feature a multitude of dance groups and styles. Below is the order in which they will be performed!

  • Once Upon a Dream - Pink Group Dancers

  • Once Upon a Dream - Black Group Dancers

  • Little April Showers - Flowers, Black, Warriors Group Dancers

  • Touch the Sky - Warriors Group Dancers

  • A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes - Blue Group Dancers

  • Trust in Me - Blue and Black Group Dancers

  • What Else Can I Do? - Isabel and Flowers Group Dancers

  • I See the Light - Boston, Sophia, and Pink Group Dancers

  • Try Everything - Mikali, Addison, and Warriors Group Dancers

  • Into the Unknown - Lana, Bella, and Blue Group Dancers

  • When You Wish Upon a Star - Full Company

This showcase is seriously full of heart, talent, and hard work, and it means so much to the performers to have a supportive audience. So grab a friend, bring your family, and come cheer for everyone on Thursday, December 11, at 6:00 PM! Can’t wait to see you there!
