The Parker Girls Volleyball team is making history this fall, riding an undefeated 12-0 record as of the thrilling Homecoming game on Friday, September 26th. In a five-set battle against Kohala, the girls dug deep and came out on top–a game that fans won’t soon forget. This strong team shows no signs of slowing down. From taking down long-time rivals to showcasing their skills in the brand–new SMART Center, Parker Volleyball is rewriting the record books and setting its sights higher than ever.

To begin, alongside the team’s historic achievements, this year also marks the historic opening of the new SMART Center at Parker School. Since the opening a few weeks ago, the Parker Volleyball environment has become electrifying, with fans filling the gym with energy every game. Highlights so far include a breakthrough win against HPA on September 18th–the first time beating them in years–and two victories over Konawaena, one of which was the first official game ever held in the new facility.

Coach Sharon Peterson has been at the helm this season, guiding the team through its historic run. When asked about the team’s performance and what makes this year so special, she said, Playing smart, playing in control, and playing good play after good play - forcing opponents to play great to beat us. Seeing the team becoming physically, mentally, and emotionally stronger while staying connected through thick and thin makes this season special. Coach Sharon’s beliefs and coaching methods have helped the girls stay successful and determined over the past few months. Some of these teachings include the importance of working as a team, balancing excitement and control, and paying attention to your attention.

The four seniors and team captains–Takarrah Presley, Mailhana Jara-Hess, Sophia Scholz, and Adalyn Ballard–are cherishing every moment of their final season while pushing forward through every opportunity this year! Below, we discussed some important aspects of the past and future for Parker Girls Volleyball.

Goals and Ambitions

When asked about the team’s objectives for the season, the seniors all agreed: their biggest goal is winning the BIIF championship and hanging the first banner in the new SMART Center. Not only this, but winning as a team and being the most connected one out there. That said, make sure to keep an eye out for Parker Volleyball updates in October, when the tournament kicks off!

Connection and Teamwork

The players also reflected on what makes this year and this team unique. Their focus for the season, since as early as June when the dedicated girls started practicing and preparing, has been rooted in connection, chemistry, and lifting each other through hard times. As one senior put it, A team divided can do so little, but a team united can do so much. That sense of unity, which has strengthened over the last 4 months, has fueled their undefeated record.

Rivalry, Motivation, and Senior Night

This upcoming week is a big one for Parker Girls Volleyball. The girls face a major home game against HPA on Monday, September 29th, and host Senior Night on Tuesday, September 30th, to celebrate the last official home game for the 4 senior players on the team! Fans are encouraged to pack the stands and cheer the girls on in these milestone games!

The Future at a Glance

As October unfolds, the team will close out its regular season and prepare for the BIIF tournament, with eyes on returning to States over Halloween weekend. The players are determined to keep their undefeated streak alive, break more records, and continue reaching milestones no Parker team has achieved before.

With every game, the Parker Girls Volleyball team proves they are one to watch. Whether while chasing a championship banner or preserving their undefeated season, the dedication, talent, and spirit of this team ensure that the 2025 season will be remembered for years to come. Parker may be a small school, but nothing about the way these girls play is small. History is theirs to write!
