For longer than a decade, Parker School has had a motive to create a new center for students, faculty, and ʻohana called the “SMART Center”. SMART stands for Sports, Mathematics, Arts, Recreation, and Technology. By raising around $17 million as a contribution from generous donors, Parker recently built and completed the center.

On August 12, 2025, the grand opening of the SMART Center took place! Here are my own ratings and rankings of the new classes and gymnasium:

1. Gymnasium 9/10 - Right as you walk in, you’ll notice that the gym is humongous. In terms of interior design, I love the representation of our school mascot!

2. Outdoor Design 9/10 - As you walk up the stairs, you’ll notice how clean and green everything looks. There are even benches you can sit at. All classes are easy to spot, and I would say the design is perfectly minimalistic.

3. Tech Room 8/10 - The tech room is definitely the largest classroom in the SMART Center, as it is divided into two rooms that are conjoined. New equipment, such as a 3D printer, computers, and other technological creations, is also being installed.

4. Workout Gym 9/10 - The gym being open to students and faculty is a great way to spend free time exercising! There are many weights and even plyometric boxes for sports exercises. The room itself is spacious and has a nice wall design.

5. Dancing Room 8/10 - I personally do not dance, but if I did, I would love the amount of space and mirrors there are in the class. I can’t wait to see the dances Ms. Duggan comes up with in this new room!
