This week’s club spotlight is the International Thespian Society (I.T.S), student-led by Myla Tsuji, Charlotte Sommerhoff, and Mackenzie Weisgerber. The Thespian Society is an honor society for high school theater finatics to participate in theater activities together and “learn more about the career paths in the theater world,” says co-student leader Myla Tsuji.
“Our club is a way for students to make new friends and talk to others with similar interests,” says Myla. I.T.S is a chance for students to unwind, play theater games, and stay updated with the latest theater events going on around the world.
So far this year, I.T.S has discussed the reopening of Broadway and the upcoming shows, as well as played new and improved versions of various theater games.
In March, I.T.S is planning on having a movie night to watch the new movie based on the Broadway show “Dear Evan Hansen” when it is released on a streaming program. The club also plans on attending a show from the Kahilu Theater if they put one on.
Meanwhile, student members are being trained to assist in running the theater once Ms. Lilley goes on maternity leave. This way, “when teachers need assistance we can help or if we have a guest come for a X-block” says Myla.
